June 2014

this is going to be a very difficult month to blog about.

i went on an incredible trip in the month of may & i have have been debating back & forth whether or not to put it in its own post.

or whether or not my blog is even worthy of the photos that were taken on that trip.

the answer to that last one, is no.
no, it's not.

but it's not like anyone reads this ever anyway, so it doesn't matter.

i'll start from the beginning of the month, per usual:

we left on a friday morning.

we first found ourselves at the bonneville salt falts.

it was very windy & very cold. we suddenly became worried that our suitcases full of tank tops & shorts weren't going to be enough.

we stopped for lunch in elko & had the best time & never wanted to leave.
pancakes & dog kisses were had all afternoon.

then we made it to reno for the night, just as the sun was setting.

we didn't see any hookers, which i was pretty bummed about.
but ashley showed us around her town that night, we ate a good dinner, laughed some laughs, & had a great time, despite the lack of whores.

the next morning, we had to say goodbye to this cutie, ellie, which we were pretty bummed about as well.

once we got to our next stop (lake tahoe) we weren't so bummed anymore.
as you can see from haley's triumphant arms.

i bought my very first piece of art, which i a just excited about today as i was then when i saw it.

absolutely obsessed with watercolour.

nuke was such a trooper this whole trip.
he deserved a beautiful shot by the lake too.

so did i.

oh, did i mention that it started blizzarding?

haley in her natural, camouflaged habitat.

i was able to stop by the sacramento temple & do baptisms.
it was absolutely beautiful.
the flowers & garden were breathtaking.
i met the nicest bishopric of a ysa ward in the area while i was there who then offered to take haley and i to in-n-out

they were so disappointed to find that it isn't just a california thing anymore.
but it was still my first time eating there in california with real palm trees, so, worth it.

the next morning, i looked out my window to see the golden gate bridge.
we were in san francisco!

we rented some bikes & took off

or tried to, at least.

we stopped for lunch at the beach with a view.

we rode to this spot, and couldn't NOT stop, jump over the rope & into the spray.

this is a face of pure joy.
i don't know if you know this about me, but i am in love with ocean spray.
the little, tiny, foamy droplets.
i was in heaven.

we found the most incredible vista (behind a fence, of course, because society is trying to keep us from seeing all things beautiful)

then proceeded to have a mini (major) photo shoot.

then we biked across the bridge. i do not have any pictures of that back yet though. or a lot of things, actually. i am definitely going to have to make a part two of this trip later when i have the rest of them.

there was a little door in that hobbit hole in the hill there.

we then headed back to the hotel & decided on where to go to dinner. we chose this delicious place on pier 49 overlooking the harbor.

it was very romantic.

especially as the sun was setting.

i couldn't even tell you how long we stayed there.
we laughed for hours & hours & hours.
there was a point where i had to excuse myself from the table just because i was so disruptive to those around me with my giggling.

i couldn't tell you one thing we talked about even if i tried.

we stayed so long that our waiter, jason, brought us free dessert.

maybe he was trying to get us to leave, but i like to tell myself that he just really liked our company.

the next morning, we headed off to our main destination: big sur

we stopped in monterey with intentions to go to the aquarium there until we found out how expensive it was.

so instead, we bought some fudge & ice cream.

the man that owned the ice cream shop mentioned to us that we shouldn't wander of into the big sur wilderness because the illegal pot-growers don't really like trespassers.

we were so excited to get going.

i was absolutely floored.

i suddenly understood why there are so many songs about highway one.

i don't have anything to say about these pictures that would help you understand better just how magical this place really is.

we got to our campsite (which will remain unnamed so it doesn't become incredibly popular and impossible to book in the future because it was literally the closest you can get to heaven on this earth, i am sure.) after about 52,3472,3654,8237 photography stops along the way.

we could either camp near the beach, or under this incredible canopy of costal redwoods near a creek.
we chose the redwoods.

john muir became our spirit animal.

sunset at our camp.

we had to quickly become pro minimalist campers when, by some blessing in disguise, our tent was inhabitable.

we didn't mind.
our snow globe of redwoods was all we really needed.

the days after this kind of all run together, so i can't promise the order is correct.

let's be honest, though. time doesn't exist in big sur.

everything just is.

we hiked to this prettiest waterfall from our campsite.

i found tide pools.

which are, like, my FAVOURITE thing.

haley drank a redbull.

i finally got to wear my new swim suit

haley took us out to the nicest beachside cafe for dinner. and twerked.
maybe.
i don't really know what's happening in that photo.

we love romantic, oceanside, sunset dinners together.

we read big sur IN big sur.

we took an old hippie man's advice and took a road to the top of the world.

can you belive there used to be a house here that overlooked this view?

stay back. psh.

this is not the last time you will see me post about this trip.

but this is the last time you will see me post about the worst mcdonald's experience i've ever had in my life.

back to reality ):

my best neighbor curt & i planned a bbq & the best kacy came.

we r the cutest

i made this fire because i am a boyscout.

i had a lot of job interviews that made me feel like this.

my cute neighbor heather & i went to go see my other cute neighbors in their choir performance!

i did some pattern mixing.

i spent some time with my favourite brother in our favourite backyard.

i got invited to stay in the cutest cabin one weekend.

i woke up to four men making me breakfast. that was great.

hand crotched rugs & wooden floors are a few of my favourite things.

richard cooked us the best steaks & we had the best time star gazing & playing games.

rex & i went to the manti temple & accidentally matched, sooo...

the prettiest baptismal font i have ever seen.

then richard and i matched the next day.
we were clearly all at the right place with the right people.

the light here was beautiful.

all in all, may was a preeeettyyyyy good month.
